La carta natal como herramienta de trabajo personal es útil para distinguir las tendencias y manifestaciones que caracterizan nuestra personalidad y distintos aspectos en nosotros mismos.
Como dice E.J. Gold en su libro Trabajo Práctico Sobre Uno Mismo, deberíamos estudiar las manifestaciones de la máquina como un científico estudiaría nuevas especies descubiertas, considerando todo el repertorio de manifestaciones negativas como un conjunto, al que podríamos llamar: El cocodrilo.
«Todas aquellas manifestaciones sutiles y no tan sutiles de la máquina que expresan urgencia personal, importancia, amor propio, beatitud, felicidad, vergüenza, miedo, certidumbre personal –cualquier cosa que pueda camuflar sentimientos de inseguridad, incluso algo tan sutil como el cotilleo despreocupado– debería ser estudiado con cuidado para hacerlo voluntario si es posible.
Cada una de estas manifestaciones categóricas tiene una postura, un gesto, un tono de voz y una expresión facial determinados, todos los cuales deberían ser estudiados en detalle, exactamente como se estudiaría a una máquina o a una parte de una máquina.»
Otra opción dice puede ser la de estudiar las manifestaciones de la máquina como un actor estudiaría un papel, preparando un personaje para representar en el escenario.
The Crocodile

As E.J. Gold says in his book Practical Work on Self, we should study the manifestations of the machine as a scientist would study a newly discovered species. All the repertoire of all the negative manifestations of the machine taken as a whole, that might be called: The Crocodile.
“All those subtle and not-so-subtle manifestations of the machine which express personal urgency, importance, self-esteem, piousness, happiness, embarrassment, fear, personal certainty –anything which might camouflage feelings of insecurity, even something as subtle as casual gossip– should be studied carefully for possible voluntarization.
Each of these categorical manifestations has a definite and recognizable posture, gesture, tone of voice, and facial mask expression, all of which should be studied in detail exactly as one would study a machine or part of a machine.”
He says another option could be to study the manifestations of the machine as a role would be studied by an actor, preparing a character for the stage.
